Understanding drinking water regulations can be challenging, particularly for small suppliers who may not have dedicated compliance or technical resources. Allegrow helps make the process simpler by providing practical advice, guidance, and support tailored to your water supply.
Whether you operate a small community supply, a commercial facility, or a self-supplied building, we can help you understand your obligations and develop a clear pathway toward compliance.
How we can help
We work with small drinking water suppliers to:
- Determine whether registration requirements apply to your supply
- Understand your obligations under the Water Services Act 2021
- Assess your water source, treatment system, and distribution network
- Identify the most appropriate compliance pathway
- Develop Drinking Water Safety Plans (DWSPs) where required
- Assist with registration and compliance documentation
- Establish practical monitoring, maintenance, and record-keeping processes
- Prepare for future regulatory requirements
Who We Support
We assist a wide range of small drinking water suppliers, including:
- Small networked supplies serving 26–100 people
- Small self-supplied buildings serving 26–100 people
- Community facilities
- Commercial premises
- Public facilities that may have obligations under the Water Services Act 2021
If you’re unsure whether your supply is covered, we can help assess your situation and explain what requirements may apply.
The Process
1. Choosing the Right Compliance Pathway
Drinking water suppliers generally comply through either:
- Acceptable Solutions
- A Drinking Water Safety Plan (DWSP)
The most suitable option depends on the size, complexity, and risks associated with your supply. We help you evaluate your system and identify the most practical and cost-effective approach.
2. Preparing for Registration
Small drinking water suppliers are required to register with Taumata Arowai by November 2028. While this may seem some time away, early planning can make compliance significantly easier and help avoid costly upgrades or last-minute challenges.
Allegrow can guide you through the process, helping you understand what is required, identify any gaps, and create a realistic plan for achieving compliance.
Our focus is on helping suppliers achieve safe drinking water outcomes through practical solutions. We work alongside owners, operators, and communities to simplify compliance requirements and develop systems that are manageable, effective, and fit for purpose.
